The judge approved the suspect’s bail with two guarantees that have a minimum of N2m in their bank accounts, and property in Ikeja, Lagos, with the case getting adjourned till February 2017.
A Lagos-based lawyer, Adigun Bankole, whom we contacted, justified the possible penalties to media men.
‘On the account of if he is found guilty by the law court on the next adjourned date depends on the charge profiled against him as well as evidence adduced to that effect. In any case, if found guilty of stealing as provided for under section 390 of the criminal code he shall be liable for three years imprisonment,’ he said
the accused is still innocent by virtue of section 36 of the 1999 constitution as amended which provides that until found guilty by a court of competent jurisdiction, an accused person is still presumed innocent hence the bail is inevitable though at the discretion of the court.
Seun can also be given the option of paying a fine if the court dimes it fit the lawyer concluded.
